AGM
In June 2024, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM) hosted our Annual General Meeting (AGM), welcoming new leadership and celebrating another successful year of industry representation and advocacy.

The AGM, held at Caesars Windsor, was well attended by members and non-members alike, including distinguished guests MP Chris Lewis and MPP Andrew Dowie.

Our keynote speaker, Laurie Harbour, gave a presentation about the current status of industry in the US and Canada and a write up was included in the Windsor Star.

We were pleased to welcome Saylo Lam as our new Board Chair and Natalia Stephens as Vice-Chair, along with several new board members and advisors who bring fresh perspectives and expertise to our organization.
The event highlighted the strength and growth of our association, fostering connections and collaboration among industry stakeholders.

ADVOCACY
In 2024, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM) demonstrated a strong commitment to representing our members and advocating for the mold making industry at various levels of government. Our increased advocacy efforts focused on addressing critical challenges faced by our sector, ensuring that the voices of our members were heard.
We participated in several high-level discussions to advance the interests of our industry, including:
  • A roundtable discussion with U.S. Consul General Baxter Hunt, focusing on cross-border collaboration.
  • A roundtable with the President of the Treasury Board, the Hon. Anita Anand, addressing key industry concerns.
  • A meeting with the Hon. David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development, to highlight the workforce and training needs of our sector.
  • A roundtable discussion with MPP Andrew Dowie, aimed at reducing bureaucratic red tape in government processes.
  • A meeting with the office of the Hon. Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development, to address pressing industry challenges and explore potential solutions.
  • Engagements with Members of Parliament Irek Kusmierczyk and Brian May to represent our members’ perspectives on key policy matters.
  • A meeting with the office of MP Chris Lewis to discuss foreign worker policies and their impact on our industry.
In the fall, we expanded our international engagement by meeting with the Consul General of Portugal to explore opportunities for collaboration and growth in Portugal.

We also facilitated member participation in a session with the Conservative Auto Caucus, where we discussed the challenges facing our sector and advocated for measures to improve current conditions.

These advocacy initiatives reflect our unwavering dedication to supporting our members and strengthening the mold making industry in Canada.

EVENTS
In 2024, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM) proudly represented our members at numerous industry events, fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and promoting the mold making sector.
Key highlights from the year include:
  • Representing our members at NPE 2024 in Orlando, FL, North America's largest plastics show. We also hosted a networking event during NPE, bringing together members and non-members to explore business opportunities.
  • Hosting informative events in partnership with BDC, where valuable financial insights, including economic outlooks, were presented to our members.
  • Engaging with members and learning about industry innovations at the Megatel Open House.
  • Participating in the Workforce Windsor-Essex Job Day, where our Chair, Saylo Lam, delivered an impactful presentation about the mold making industry.
  • Playing an active role in the planning of Manufacturing Day and attending a shop tour hosted by Cavalier Tool, which welcomed local high school students to explore careers in manufacturing.
  • Exhibiting at LevelUP Career Fairs across Ontario, promoting mold making careers and engaging with Ontario youth.
  • Attending the Emerging Technologies in Automation Conference, where our Executive Director, Nicole Vlanich, moderated an engaging panel discussion on mold making.
  • Exhibiting at the SHOP Expo in Windsor, where we hosted a panel discussion and networking event at the Ciociaro Club.
  • Participating in Cavalier Tool's Retiree Day, celebrating the contributions of retired industry members and showcasing advancements in moldmaking technologies.
Through these events, CAMM strengthened connections within the industry, promoted career opportunities, and ensured our members remained at the forefront of the mold making sector.

In June 2024, we hosted our 38th Annual Golf Tournament which was excellently planned by our Director of Events Mike Hicks. Always a day of fun and connection, everyone had a great time and many prizes were won at dinner. Don't miss the 39th Annual Golf Tournament in June 2025.
