CAMM: Standing Strong Amidst Challenges
As we move through 2025, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM) continues to stand firm, navigating an ever-evolving landscape with resilience and determination. Our industry faces significant headwinds, particularly regarding tariffs and global economic shifts, but our commitment to advocacy, collaboration, and leadership remains unwavering.
Strengthening Our Industry’s Voice
CAMM has taken decisive steps to ensure that mold makers are heard at every level of government and media. By joining the Windsor-Essex Economic Trade Task Force, we have positioned ourselves as a key resource for business-related news on tariffs and manufacturing policies. This role is critical as we work alongside industry leaders such as past CAMM Chair Jonathon Azzopardi and Advisor Wendy Stark to drive meaningful conversations.
Our voice is reaching far beyond Canada’s borders. CAMM has recently engaged with international media, including France TV, the Washington Post, and Asahi TV (Japan), reinforcing our position as a trusted source of insight on manufacturing issues.
Advocacy at the Forefront
Direct engagement with policymakers remains a cornerstone of our strategy. In recent weeks, we have:
· Hosted MP Chris Lewis at Circle 5 to address the impact of tariffs.
These actions reflect our proactive approach—anticipating challenges before they arise and ensuring that decision-makers understand the realities faced by manufacturers.
Cross-Border Collaboration
We recognize that Canada and the U.S. must work together to sustain the mold making industry. Through participation in the OESA/MEMA Tooling Supplier Council and Washington-based lobbying efforts, we are reinforcing the message that tariffs harm both countries. The U.S. cannot meet its domestic moldmaking needs alone—Canada remains a critical ally.
Beyond advocacy, CAMM is committed to strengthening its membership and leadership base. A targeted membership and sponsorship drive is underway, emphasizing:
· Exclusive insights for moldmaking executives on business planning, financial strategies, and best practices.
· Leadership development—helping moldmakers build strong management teams.
· Succession planning, sharing real-world experiences, and long-term strategies for business continuity.
These initiatives ensure that our members remain equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive, regardless of external pressures.
We are hosting a members only meeting to share and discuss tariff optimization methods in the event the tariffs are in effect March 6. If you want to participate, please consider renewing or joining membership to CAMM. Insights from this meeting could easily offset the cost of membership.
Guided by Our Core Values
As we launch our 2025 Mission, Vision, and Core Values, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation, advocacy, and industry excellence. In an unpredictable global market, our ability to adapt and lead with quiet confidence will define our success.
We invite all industry stakeholders to join us in shaping the future—whether through membership, sponsorship, or active participation in our initiatives. CAMM is not just weathering the storm; we are ensuring that Canadian mold makers emerge stronger than ever.

Message from the Executive Director
As we step into 2025, we are met with both challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of our industry. I want to take this moment to assure you that CAMM remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the best interests of Canadian mold makers.
Behind the scenes, our team is working diligently to ensure that your voices are heard, your concerns are addressed, and your businesses are supported.
Over the past several months, our Chair, Saylo Lam, and I have actively engaged with policymakers and government representatives at the local, provincial, and federal levels. These discussions have focused on the challenges our industry is facing, their broader economic implications, and the critical role mold makers play in Canada’s manufacturing sector.
By maintaining an open dialogue with key decision-makers, we are ensuring that the needs of our members remain at the forefront of policy discussions.
I encourage all members to connect with me regarding any concerns, challenges, or recommendations you may have. CAMM exists to be your voice, and your input is invaluable in shaping the direction of our advocacy efforts, programs, and initiatives. Whether it's regulatory hurdles, workforce development, or market expansion, we are here to listen and take action.
Beyond advocacy, I am incredibly proud of the work CAMM is doing to provide value to our members. We continue to host industry-focused events, deliver relevant insights, and foster networking opportunities that empower businesses to grow and succeed.
I welcome any feedback on how we can enhance our services and ensure that we are meeting the evolving needs of our industry.
As Executive Director, I remain committed to engaging with our Board of Directors, Advisors, and Members to align our efforts with CAMM’s strategic vision. Through ongoing projects, partnerships, and initiatives, we will continue to ‘preserve, promote, and protect’ the interests of Canadian mold makers while strengthening our industry’s position on both national and global stages.
Together, we are stronger. CAMM will continue to be a dedicated advocate and resource for Canadian mold makers, ensuring our industry remains resilient and competitive. If you have not yet renewed for 2025, now is the time as our voices are stronger together!!

CAMM Statement on the Possible Implementation of Tariffs
To our Valued Members, Partners and Supporters,
The possible implementation of new tariffs may introduce additional challenges to Canada's mold making industry, potentially impacting costs, supply chains, and market competitiveness. As we navigate this evolving landscape, CAMM remains committed to supporting our members by providing timely insights, resources, and advocacy to ensure the continued long term strength of our sector.
On February 26, 2025, we hosted a webinar focused on market diversification strategies and available funding programs to help members expand their global reach.
CAMM continues to engage with policymakers to address industry challenges, including advocating for fair trade policies, improved access to global markets and investment in advanced manufacturing. We encourage all members to share their experiences and concerns with us - your input is essential as we work together to ensure a competitive and sustainable future for Canadian mold makers.
Key considerations for mold makers
Given the current environment, we recommend that members:
Evaluate and adjust supply chain strategies to mitigate cost increases
Explore automation and efficiency improvements to maintain competitiveness Review Quote terms and Purchase Order agreements from your customers Investigate new trade agreements and alternative markets to reduce reliance on affected regions Leverage government funding and export development programs to offset challenges
Federal Government Response
The Canadian Federal Government released a statement on February 2, 2025, found HERE, prior to the delay in imposition of tariffs, where they announced steps to mitigate the tariffs including launching a remission process for Canadian businesses.
The situation continues to change and CAMM will continue to monitor the situation and keep our membership community informed.
We understand the uncertainty the potential tariffs bring, but we remain confident in the strength and resilience of our industry. By staying informed, adapting to market shifts, and working collectively, Canadian mold makers will continue to thrive.
Together, we are stronger. Please reach out to me to share your insights, thoughts and/or concerns.
