MEMBER OF THE MONTH
This month CAMM is pleased to announce our first member of the month - Kim Thiara - Acetronic.
Acetronic Industrial Control Inc. is a Mississauga based company, established in 1983. Their business model evolved into a 3-pronged approach - service, distribution and manufacturing. With a customer base almost as diverse as their capabilities, Acetronic customers range from pharmaceuticals, food packing, automotive, construction and more.
Kim Thiara is not only a member of CAMM, but is also responsible for our Toronto Chapter. I had the pleasure of asking Kim a few questions about Acetronic, and herself, and her responses are below.
How long has Acetronic been a member of CAMM? Approximately 18 years.
Why did you join? Initially, it seemed to be the best platform for us to be in touch with the Canadian plastics industry.
What is your favourite part about being a member? Witnessing the work that goes on behind the scenes, for the benefit of the industry and on behalf of the membership.
What do you enjoy most about working in the industry? Having the ability to resolve an issue, most especially when time is of the essence and production is halted. Being a dependable and reliable resource for our community.
What are the top 3 things that people should know about Acetronic? 1. Family owned biz, 3rd generation 2. Acetronic manufactures here in Canada, 3. We are THE best and most knowledgeable when it comes to custom mold cables.
Can you think of any misconceptions people may have about the industry? That plastics is bad for the environment and the scope of the Cdn plastics manufacturing sector . Huge misconception, as an industry we need to work together with government and the public sector to dismiss these beliefs. Plastic offers the best solution to a great many problems, COVID has allowed the ordinary citizen to be witness to this simple fact and also opened a door to the resiliency of the Cdn manufacturing sector.
What is a fun fact about you? I was meant to be an interior designer, not a solution provider to the plastics industry!!
What are you excited about for 2022? For life to reach some level of stability and preparing for AceConnex 2022
Thank you Kim, and Acetronic, for participating in our member of the month spotlight. If you would like to suggest a member please email your suggestions to [email protected].
