We are pleased to announce our Member Spotlight - AlphaKOR and Frank Abbruzzese.

AlphaKOR is proudly celebrating 27 years on February 25, 2022 and is represented by it's four partners - Ali Jaber, Frank Abbruzzese, Mazen Jaber and Shawn O'Rourke. AlphaKOR's core competencies include network and security, digital marketing and custom software and applications. Their mission is to wow with innovative technology to drive business strategies, awesome customer experiences and a friendly work culture. AlphaKOR services locally and globally by providing 'lights out' solutions for business continuity if disaster strikes.

Frank Abbruzzese graduated from the University of Windsor in 1988 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has remained dedicated to many committees and associations over the years, including being a co-founder of the WE-Tech Alliance and Windsor-Essex Circle. Frank is also the founder of Wednesday Wisdom.
He proudly spoke of his 27 year marriage to Carmela and of his 2 daughters, one of whom most recently began working alongside him. Frank is the current chair of Build-A-Dream and sits on many committees, including 3 at St. Clair College for their curriculum in networking, mobile applications and web development.

I had the opportunity to meet with Frank and ask him a few questions.

1. Why did AlphaKOR join CAMM?

AlphaKOR has been a member of CAMM for over 15 years and joined to get familiar with industry, network and build relationships.

2. What are your goals/plans for 2022?

The pandemic has been an exciting time where AlphaKOR has seen a significant service ticket increase. This year, the focus is on a cyber security strategy and continuing to market and discuss the software "ShopTalk".

3.What are some fun facts about you?

- grew up in Leamington
- known as the "Networking King"
- enjoy playing hockey

4. What should people know about AlphaKOR?

The software created specifically for mold and tool and die shops - ShopTalk. This software can eliminate duplication, manual reporting, miscommunications and virtually eliminates downtime to increase output on the shop floor. It is a customizable information management tool.

AlphaKOR is eager to share their services and continue networking as much as possible.

It was a pleasure to be able to meet with Frank, someone truly passionate about what he does, and discuss AlphaKOR and their future.

As an emerging global leader in the additive manufacturing of tool steel for die casting and plastic injection applications, Aarkel kicked off its additive manufacturing division in the beginning of 2020, during a global pandemic.
Its additive team accelerated through its research and development (R&D) phase and has proven itself successful within a short period of time.
Today, Aarkel has manufactured hundreds of 3D printing components, which are in production globally. With R&D in optimized laser scanning strategies, special heat treatment procedures and a unique metal powder.
After a successful year, Aarkel has acquired a second EOS M400 laser 3D printing machine and its additive team is currently working on many R&D projects, one being breathable inserts. With both eyes on the future, Aarkel will continue to innovate and deliver high-performance components to the tooling industry. New website features dozens of manufacturing experts
A new web-based instructional tool has just launched that aims to help manufacturers solve both their everyday “I run a busy shop” problems, as well as aid in bigger-picture executive skills development. It’s expert advice and training developed just for manufacturers.
Manufacturing Masters and its accompanying website, www.manufacturing-masters.com, is a storage house of guidance from today’s best manufacturing minds. The site itself is the brainchild of Darrin Mitchell, a manufacturer turned content producer who envisions it as a Netflix for manufacturers.

CRA provides update on employer-provided benefits and allowances
If you are an employer who provides benefits or allowances to your employees, you know the importance of calculating taxable benefits accurately for payroll and T4 reporting purposes. In 2020, in response to COVID-19, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) provided administrative guidance on how to calculate specific employer-provided benefits and allowances, including commuting costs, parking, and home office equipment. These positions were extended to Dec. 31, 2021 and recently further extended to Dec. 31, 2022.

Manufacturing sales rose 2.6 per cent to $63.1 billion in November, even as flooding in B.C. caused disruptions at more than a quarter of factories across Canada, Statistics Canada said Monday.
The agency said the overall gain in sales was the second consecutive month of growth as sales rose in 18 of the 21 industries it tracks.

Canada Summer Jobs - Youth Hiring Grant
A Canadian government grant that offers support for employers providing supervised career-related work experience for youth (ages 15-30) employees. The experiences gained through funded placements should further develop their skills and knowledge, preparing them to make a transition into employment. For more information click HERE

Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF)
SIF uniquely targets Canada's industrial and technology sectors. Financial contributions are valued at up to 50% of project costs. There are 5 streams of funding. Find more details HERE

IRAP Youth Employment Fund
YEP assists in the funding of hiring young Canadian post-secondary graduates (ages 15-30). Funding is available for up to 2 graduates for a period of 6-12 months with a maximum of $30,000 per graduate.

Ontario launches program to support Canadian Manufacturers across the province
The Ontario government launched the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) program to help companies get the tools, technology and talent they need to grow, compete and innovate in an increasingly competitive global market.
As part of the 2021 Fall Economic Statement, AMIC is a new stream of the Regional Development Program (RDP). The two-year, $40 million program will support advanced manufacturing businesses to invest in the equipment, advanced technologies and skilled workforce needed to improve competitiveness and growth. As Ontario continues to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, AMIC will help to create and retain good jobs and address the need to restore the essential supply chains that will support economic recovery across the province.
