Guests of Innovate Canada will explore Waterloo Region’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem through interactive tours and demos.

WATERLOO — Explore Waterloo Region announces that it will host the Innovate Canada – Advanced Manufacturing Conference May 8-11, 2023.

Innovate Canada is a four-day event that showcases local advanced manufacturing industries as well as creative and academic sector expertise to an audience of industry executives from around the globe.

“Explore Waterloo Region is thrilled host Innovate Canada,” said Michele Saran, CEO of Explore Waterloo Region. “In Canada, Waterloo Region is known as a centre of excellence in advanced manufacturing. We are excited to showcase both our deep expertise in that sector, as well as the incredible offerings for meetings and conferences here in our region.”

Guests of Innovate Canada will explore Waterloo Region’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem through interactive tours and demos of Teledyne FLIR, the University of Waterloo’s RoboHub and AVRIL (Autonomous Vehicle and Research Intelligence Lab), MSAM, OTTO Motors, ATS Automation and SMART (Smart Manufacturing and Advanced Recycling Technologies) at Conestoga College.

Explore Waterloo Region is partnering with Waterloo EDC (Waterloo Region Economic Development Corporation) and the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce on the Innovate Canada conference. The Chamber’s 2023 Manufacturing Summit will coincide with Innovate Canada, creating an event within an event.

“The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is pleased to partner with Explore Waterloo Region on this prestigious event,” said Chamber President and CEO, Ian Maclean. “Tourism is economic development, and it makes good sense for our two organizations to work together to showcase the many reasons to visit, work, live and invest in Waterloo Region.”

“Explore Waterloo Region demonstrated they have the knowledge and infrastructure to provide a carbon-neutral event. As Destination Canada is pursuing its Canadian Business Event Sustainability Plan, it was very important to work with a partner that believed in it too,” says Virginie De Visscher, Senior Director of Business Development, Economic Sectors, Destination Canada Business Events. “The Innovate Canada – Advanced Manufacturing Conference in Waterloo is a milestone event, as it will be our first carbon neutral Innovate Canada event.”
